Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez presented next fiscal year’s budget yesterday. His plan would cut property taxes by 2 percent, according to the Miami Herald. Gimenez already lowered the tax rate last fall by almost 12 percent. The Mayor said the county was saved from the deep cuts other governments are seeing largely because of the improving Miami economy. The county budget totals $5.9 billion — down from last year’s $6.2 billion — of which $1.6 billion is set aside for construction spending. [Miami Herald]
