City of Miami could see its first Walmart

Like it or not, Miami is about to see its first Walmart, the Miami Herald reported. Plans for a 54,000-square-foot Walmart Neighborhood Market, located at 6991 SW Eighth Street in Flagami, were announced by the world’s largest retailer Thursaday. If given city approval, construction is likely to begin next year, with an opening set for 2014. The store will employ approximately 100 workers and will include a gas station and a TD Bank Branch. When it opens this will be the first Walmart in the city of Miami, however, a Walmart opened in Miami-Dade County last year in  the Hialeah neighborhood. [Miami Herald] – Christopher Cameron
