Developer Asaf “Asi” Cymbal has brought on the Danish architect Bjarke Ingels to design the six-acre Cabi New River site in downtown Fort Lauderdale, according to the South Florida Business Journal. When the three-phase Marina Lofts project is completed it will total 1,072-rental units. Each tower will contain around 350 units, ranging in size from studios to three-bedrooms, with 10,000 square feet of restaurants and 25,000 square feet of retail space. The first two towers will rise to 36-stories, while the third only reach 25-stories.
The units will be designed to attract young professionals with an urban mindset, Cymbal told the Business Journal. “I like rentals. It also speaks to my own aesthetic. I identify with the rental market,” Cymbal said. “Well designed efficient units appeal to the urban culture-demographic drawn to the artistic and downtown lifestyle.” [SFBJ] – Christopher Cameron
