The new Miami Art Museum, currently under construction along Biscayne Bay in downtown’s Bicentennial Park, is on track financially, according to the Miami Herald. The museum is raising $120 million in private donations to fund the its new home and has already raised half that amount.

“People don’t get on board until they see things,’’ Collins said during a recent tour of the construction site. “We’re well within $2 million of finishing the bricks and mortar fundraising.’’

MAM will see a name change, too, thanks to a $35 million donation from Miami real estate developer Jorge Perez.  The museum will be renamed the Jorge Perez Art Museum of Miami-Dade County, or PAMM — a change that has proved controversial with locals. [Miami Herald] —Christopher Cameron
