Sandy threatening $48 billion worth of New York-area residential property: report

Hurricane Sandy is threatening 119,312 residential properties with a total value of $48.06 billion in value in the New York-Northern New Jersey-Long Island metropolitan area, according to a report from real estate analytics firm CoreLogic. The Empire State has a total of 81,078 properties with $35.12 billion at risk. According to the data, 284,000 residential properties in eight states in the Mid-Atlantic region are threatened, with a total value of nearly $75 billion. The data was developed based on the projected path of Hurricane Sandy from this weekend. — Alexander Britell
