The opening of the Palm Beach Outlets, an 80 to 100 outlet retail center currently under construction in West Palm Beach, has suffered a three month building delay and will not open until February 2014, the Palm Beach Post reported. The delay will cause the retail center, located near I-95 and Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard, to miss the 2013 holiday season.
“For a variety of reasons we were delayed,” said Tom Carabine, who represents New England Development. “We can’t make the Nov. 15 opening this year.”
New England Development purchased the property for $35.5 million with partners Eastern Real Estate and Lubert-Adler. The total cost of the project is estimated at $200 million.
When completed, the 80-acre site will feature nearly 1.5 million square feet of retail. An additional 10 big-box retail stores will be built along the I-95 boundary, and additional parcels for Whole Foods, banks and restaurants could be added to the plans. [PBP] —Christopher Cameron
