Yesterday, Youfit Health Clubs opened the doors of its 46th location — its 18th in South Florida — at the Crossings Shopping Village at 112 Street and 132 Avenue in Kendall, the Miami Herald reported.
Founded by Rick Berks only five years ago the chain of discount gyms, which requires no long-term contracts and charge roughly $10 per month, is maintaining its rapid growth. The new Kendall club will soon be followed by seven additional location in the next two months, one of which will be in Miami, the company told the Herald.
“We’re building clubs for people who don’t want to deal with the trauma and drama of the usual health club,” Berks, a former Broward sheriff’s deputy and co-founder of Planet Fitness, said. [Miami Herald] —Christopher Cameron
