Mega-retailer Wal-Mart wants to build its first store in Fort Lauderdale on a seven-acre site on at the intersection of Andrews Avenue and Sunrise Boulevard in the Progresso Village neighborhood, the Broward Bulldog reported.

If built, the store would be the third “neighborhood market”-type Wal-Mart — a smaller form of store under the Wal-Mart umbrella — in Broward County, the Bulldog said. Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler has come out in support of the proposed project.
