An office manager at Gulf to Bay Sotheby’s International Realty in Boca Grande has been charged with embezzling almost $200,000 from the firm, the New York Daily News reported.
Ruth Amen, 46, stole $181,674 from the business over ten years handling the firm’s finances, investigators found. The company brought in the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Economic Crimes Unit after Amen threw a huge birthday bash for her boss but did not use company funds, arousing suspicion about where all the money had come from.
She is charged with grand theft and scheme to defraud, the News said. [NYDN] –Guelda Voien
