The tab for the 2016 Super Bowl would be around $21 million — about twice what it was last time South Florida held the event — the Miami Herald reported.
While local governments would contribute much of that sum, corporate sponsors would likely pick up the bulk of the cost, the Herald said.
Organizers said the NFL has changed host city requirements, and plans submitted last week included the requisite pricey pre-game events in downtown Miami.
The estimate for Miami’s Super Bowl cots were still lower than the city of San Francisco’s $26 million in projected costs, however. [Miami Herald] –Guelda Voien
