Starchitect Richard Meier has unveiled designs for the expansion of the Mediterranean-style 1930s-era social club known as Surf Club, Curbed reported.

The club — located at 9011 Collins Avenue in Miami — will feature an 80-room hotel, 150 oceanfront condominium units and 24 units on the other side of the building. The 8.7-acre property has 815 feet of unobstructed oceanfront. Meier, known for his work in New York and Los Angeles, is collaborating with Kobi Karp on the project.

Fort Capital Management, which bought the property last fall, won the club members over with a $116 million acquisition plan that called for the development of a 285-unit condo hotel, spa, restaurant and specialty food shop, as previously reported.

There has been a dispute among active and inactive members of the club over who should receive a share of the sale money, the website said. [Curbed] Mark Maurer
