Retailer Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams has inked a 10-year lease in the Design District following an influx of luxury brands to the Miami neighborhood.

The Taylorsville, North Carolina-based home furnishings company is scheduled to open a 10,000-square-foot flaship store at 3800 N. Miami Avenue in the first quarter of 2014, Metro 1 Commercial, which represented the landlord in the transaction, said in a release.

The Miami enclave known for its high-design furniture stores and edgy galleries is poised to give Bal Harbour Shops a run for its money as the toniest shopping area in South Florida.

Louis Vuitton, Bulgari and Fendi are among a dozen luxury brands scheduled to open hubs in the Design District. — Emily Schmall
