A former antiques specialist has listed his Miami Beach mansion designed by New York and Palm Beach society architect Maurice Fatio for $12.9 million, according to the seller’s broker, Nelson Gonzalez of EWM.

The Mediterranean-style home was built in 1936 for a wealthy Miami industrialist and “meticulously restored” by the current owner, Guy K. Bush, in 2006, Gonzalez told The Real Deal.

As a pre-1942 construction, the six-bedroom manse, which sits on a 30,000-square-foot lot with 135 feet of frontage on Biscayne Bay, is protected from demolition by city code.

“Nobody in their right mind would go in and tear this house down,” Gonzalez said. ” Over the last eight to ten years, people have wanted modern, modern, modern, but there are people still out there who appreciate this kind of design.”

One of only a handful of buildings designed by the Swiss architect that have been spared the wrecking ball in Miami Beach, the property at 6420 Allison Road is flanked by mature banyan trees and features an antique pine library, gourmet kitchen, Water Works bath appliances and a Jack Nicklaus-designed putting green. The property is part of an 8.5-acre, guard-gated community.

A Fatio-designed home at 5446 North Bay Road was demolished in April, Daniel Ciraldo of the Miami Design Preservation League told TRD.

Three other Fatio homes in Miami Beach remain, along with the architect’s Indian Creek Golf Club and the former Vanderbilt mansion on Fisher Island.
