Butters Construction & Development plans to team up with the San Francisco-based Bristol Group to build a 750,000-square-foot business park from the remains of the long-distressed Deerfield Country Club in Deerfield Beach, the South Florida Business Journal reported.

Gator Development Group currently owns the 73.7-acre property – located at 50 Fairway Drive, near Hillsboro Boulevard – which is under contract to the Hillsboro Technology Park project’s two aforementioned developers. The business park, Broward County’s first in 10 years, will also feature lakes, green space and more than 1,700 trees. There would be 450,000 square feet of industrial space, and the rest is a mix of office and retail, the publication said.

Malcolm Butters, president of Butters Construction & Development, said the struggling golf course is too small to attract enough members to keep business afloat.

The Broward County Commission plans to review the zoning application tonight. If the project is approved, Butters said they will request bank financing for individual buildings at the park, the report said. [South Florida Business Journal]Mark Maurer
