Florida East Coast Industries, the company planning the $1.5 billion All Aboard Florida passenger train service from Miami to Orlando, is in talks to buy two Miami properties for the project.
All Aboard Florida wants the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency to sell the parcels across from the Lyric Theater for $5.5 million, GlobeSt reported. The downtown train station and transportation hub would feature office space, apartments and retail outlets, All Aboard Florida executives said. Those two parcels at the corner of Northwest 8th Street and Second Avenue would hold a multi-story building for many of these purposes.
Community Redevelopment Agency officials are slated to provide recommendations to their board. A vote will likely occur at next month’s meeting. [GlobeSt] – Mark Maurer
