Nation of Islam’s Miami mosque faces foreclosure

The Nation of Islam’s regional headquarters building for Miami, the Caribbean and Latin America is at risk of foreclosure.

Known for outspoken leader Louis Farrakhan, the Nation of Islam’s mosque and education center in Miami is the group’s seventh regional headquarters. Katline Realty Corp. filed the foreclosure lawsuit late last month against Muhammad Mosque, which includes the 8,140-square-foot property at 5600 N.W. 7th Ave. over a defaulted mortgage for $271,000 made in 2007, the South Florida Business Journal reported.

The 30-year loan carried an interest rate of 14 percent, requiring payments of $3,211 per month.
