UPDATED, Oct. 4, 4:22 p.m.: Charleston, S.C.-based multi-family developer Greystar Real Estate Partners started construction on Elan 16Forty, a 261-unit Fort Lauderdale luxury rental complex with 2,300 square feet of retail space.
The one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments will range from 686 to 1,599 square feet. They will feature bamboo flooring, 11-foot-high ceilings, balconies, walk-in closets and European cabinetry, according to a report from the South Florida Business Journal.
Elsewhere in the building, plans call for a 6,000-square-foot fitness center, a pool, a spa, a dog park and a rooftop terrace.
Wells Fargo gave the developer a $40.95 million construction loan in July for the project, located at 1640 East Sunrise Boulevard in Victoria Park. [South Florida Business Journal] — Mark Maurer
