The historic 47-story Miami Tower will become TotalBank Tower in time for its 40th birthday.
The Grupo Banco Popular Español-owned bank, which has 21 locations in Miami-Dade County, is moving its headquarters at 2720 Coral Way after launching in 1974. It signed a 60,000-square-foot lease for three floors and rooftop signage at 100 Southeast 2nd Street, starting next May. The space will feature a ground-floor banking center.
Eric Groffman of Transwestern represented Miami Tower, while Matthew Goodman of Cresa South Florida represented TotalBank. New York-based architecture firm Gensler is handling the design.
The current headquarters will be renovated as the site for the TotalBank operations center, which has been based at the Palmetto Bay branch at 17945 Franjo Road. [Daily Business Review] — Mark Maurer
