City Furniture, the Tamarac-based Florida licensee of Ashley Furniture HomeStore, is building a 90,000-square-foot superstore in Cutler Bay as part of a five-store South Florida expansion.

Construction is slated to start on the Ashley store at 18750 South Dixie Highway, by the end of the year. Ashley Furniture will be connected by a walk-through to City Furniture, which opened last month. The Ashley section is expected to open early next year.

The expansion includes stores in Oakland Park, West Palm Beach and Pinecrest. City Furniture’s sales projection is $270 million for the year, which would be a jump from $231 million last year.

Last year, City Furniture built the Oakland Park store at 3775 North Federal Highway, as previously reported. [Sun-Sentinel]Mark Maurer
