Trader Joe’s enthusiasts in Broward County won’t have to drive to Pinecrest to get their grocery fix much longer.
A new Trader Joe’s store is coming to Pembroke Pines in 2014, the Sun-Sentinel reported. The 12,500-square-foot store is being planned for the Pembroke Crossing shopping center, located at the busy intersection of Pines Boulevard and Flamingo Road. The California-based company is in the midst of an aggressive South Florida expansion.
Trader Joe’s opened its first Miami-Dade County store in Pinecrest not long ago. That store has routinely drawn large crowds. Four additional stores are expected to open in Palm Beach County as well.
The Pembroke Pines store takes over some of the space previously used by furniture company Cost Plus World Market. Trader Joe’s launched near Los Angeles in 1958 and grew to become a national chain with more than 400 stores throughout the United States. [Sun-Sentinel] — Eric Kalis
