Chinese investment firm US Capital Holdings Group announced plans for a five-stage, $400 million project to redevelop the vacant former Fashion Mall site in Plantation.
The site, to be known at 321 North at 321 North University Drive, will gain shops, residences, offices and restaurants over the next several years, the firm told the Sun-Sentinel. A 160,000-square-foot office building is slated to open late next year.
Last year, an affiliate of Canyon Capital Realty Advisors filed a foreclosure action against the mall, the third such lawsuit involving the property in the last five years, as previously reported. The foreclosure action involves a $15 million mortgage on the property, which shuttered as a mall in 2007. [Sun-Sentinel] — Mark Maurer
