The housing market in Broward and Palm Beach counties is bucking national trends with increased new construction activity.
Metrostudy’s latest quarterly report shows that builders began construction on 530 houses in Palm Beach County during the third quarter, the Sun-Sentinel reported. That represents a 4 percent year-over-year increase in housing starts.
Broward County had a 25 percent year-over-year surge in housing starts, with construction commencing on 308 homes. Metrostudy includes single-family residences, townhouses and duplexes in its reports. It does not include condos.
Builders in Palm Beach County are targeting sites west of Delray Beach, Boynton Beach and Palm Beach Gardens. In Broward, the residential development community has zeroed in on Parkland. [Sun-Sentinel] — Eric Kalis
