The chances of Office Depot keeping its headquarters in Boca Raton are improving.
An Illinois House bill to provide Office Depot with tax incentives to move its headquarters to the state stalled without a vote, the Sun-Sentinel reported. The Illinois Senate has already approved the tax breaks.
Office Depot merged with Naperville, Ill.-based rival OfficeMax last month. Since the merger, focus has shifted to where the combined company will call home.
The office supply chain has 1,700 employees working in the Boca headquarters. It already receives state incentives. Local officials are having discussions with the company about potential new incentives for it to stay put. [Sun-Sentinel] — Eric Kalis
