Miami Art Week is paying tribute to a beach house that never was. French fashion house Louis Vuitton has constructed a replica of a beach house that architect Charlotte Perriand designed but was not created.
The exhibit, “La Maison au bord de l’eau,” runs through Sunday at the Raleigh hotel at 1775 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach, the New York Daily News reported. Perriand’s daughter Pernette Perriand-Barsac commissioned to have it built.
Perriand conceived of the designs in 1934 for an architecture magazine contest. It took second place and therefore was not built. [NYDN] — Mark Maurer
