Office Depot to remain in Boca Raton

Office Depot has decided to stay put at its Boca Raton headquarters.
The office supply chain, which recently merged with OfficeMax, chose Boca over OfficeMax’s Naperville, Ill. headquarters, Crain’s reported. Office Depot cited operational costs, existing leases and subleases, tax impacts and government incentives for the decision in a written statement. The Boca facility also has the capacity to accommodate employees who plan to relocate from the Illinois location.
Existing Office Depot and OfficeMax stores, customer service centers and industrial facilities will not be affected by the decision to keep the headquarters in Boca.
Government officials in Florida and Illinois pushed incentive packages to attract the merged retailer. The incentives provided to Office Depot for the Boca facility were not disclosed. [Crain’s] — Eric Kalis
