The league and Miami-Dade County officials are discussing a potential academy location at Amelia Earhart Park, Miami Today reported. The 401 East 65th Street property is the third site considered for the academy, which was touted during the push to build new stadium for the Miami Marlins in Little Havana. Design work is underway, with hopes of revealing renderings to the public early next year and opening the facility by mid-2015.

The league runs academies to teach young players various baseball skills and promote outdoor recreational activities. It previously considered a vacant site owned by Flagler and 13 acres at Hialeah Community Middle School. [Miami Today]Eric Kalis
