The search for a spring training complex in Palm Beach County has expanded beyond Palm Beach Gardens.
City officials suggested the county consider more appropriate sites for a spring training home for the Houston Astros, the Palm Beach Post reported. Many Palm Beach Gardens residents are opposing the proposed location in the Shady Lakes community off Central Boulevard. That site still remains a possibility but is not necessarily the odds-on favorite.
Other Palm Beach County sites that could be considered include one in downtown West Palm Beach near the train station, a former jai-alai fronton in Mangonia Park and a vacant parcel south of 45th Street in West Palm. [Palm Beach Post] — Eric Kalis
