Newgard Development Group has officially started building downtown Miami condo tower Centro.
The Harvey Hernandez-led company and partner The Tilla Family of Companies began construction of the 37-story, 352-unit project at 151 Southeast First Street on Thursday, the Miami Herald reported. Both companies are based in Miami.
Sieger Suarez Architectural Partnership, another Miami-based firm, designed Centro. Plans call for one and two-bedroom condos in a tower with no parking garage. Miami zoning allows garage-free high-rise construction on the property because it is located near public transit stations and the city’s trolley service.
The developers are expected to operate Smart Cars from the tower through an agreement with vehicle-sharing company Car2Go. [Miami Herald] — Eric Kalis
