The most recent price index shows Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties jumped by nearly 16 percent from October 2012, the Sun-Sentinel reported. All 20 major metropolitan areas covered by Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller posted year-over-year price increases in October. South Florida and Charlotte were the only two areas to have larger price gains in October than September.

Released near the end of each month, the index tracks values of the same homes over a long period of time instead of charting median sale prices. [Sun-Sentinel]Eric Kalis
