Palm Beach County commissioners are close to determining the fate of the former Mizner Trail golf course near Boca Raton.
After eight years of failed attempts to develop the 130-acre site, commissioners are scheduled to vote on the latest proposal on Jan. 9, the Sun-Sentinel reported. The proposal includes 288 residences on the former fairways and greens in the Boca Del Mar neighborhood.
Opponents successfully fought off the last two attempts to develop the site, as one was voted down by Palm Beach County commissioners and the second abandoned by the developer. This time around, some would-be opponents are getting frustrated with the overgrown golf course property and would welcome any kind of improvement.
Plenty of project opponents remain, however. One group believes the land should be used as a public park. [Sun-Sentinel] — Eric Kalis
