At the developer’s request, Palm Beach County commissioners delayed voting on the proposed redevelopment of the former Mizner Trail golf course near Boca Raton until March.
Developer James Comparato asked commissioners Thursday to push back their decision on his application to rezone the golf course property to accommodate 288 residences on the 130-acre site, the Palm Beach Post reported. Comparato represents course owner Mizner Trail Golf Club. He wants to build 154 single-family residences and 134 townhomes on the course west of I-95 and south of Palmetto Park Road.
The proposal generated about three hours of public discussion during Thursday’s meeting. Comparato said he hopes to use the extra time to work with county zoning officials on a proposal that would pass muster. The county’s zoning manager had recommended the plan be rejected.
