After a years-long city dispute with residents, the Miami River Commission showed support for a 55-story condominium tower known as Edge after the developer made several concessions.
Developer Rafael Aragonés proposed a 130-unit, 631-foot-tall building at 55 Southwest Miami Avenue Road along the Miami River, Miami Today News reported. The next step for approval is Urban Development Review Board on Jan. 22.
He agreed to make the proposed riverwalk accessible 24 hours a day – and that signs on the site will direct people to the riverwalk. He also said he would cut back on landscaping that was slated to take up 3 feet of the 8-foot-wide sidewalk.
The building’s first eight floors would be used for parking, according to designs by Revuelta Architecture International’s Luis Revuelta. [Miami Today News] — Mark Maurer
