Miami Dolphins linebacker Philip Wheeler has purchased a newly built home in Plantation’s Hawks Landing community for $1.7 million, The Real Deal has learned.

Wheeler acquired the 10290 Sweet Bay Street residence on Jan. 27 from developer Robinette Homes Signature Series, according to Broward County records. The county recorded the transaction Thursday. The 6-year National Football League veteran obtained a $1.2 million mortgage from EverBank for the purchase.

Wheeler signed a 5-year contract with the Dolphins in March 2013. Two months later, he paid $1.2 million for a 2,400-square-foot Fort Lauderdale home. — Eric Kalis
