Boca Raton hospital adds property for $1.7M

The non-profit Boca Raton Regional Hospital has swallowed up a 4,084-square-foot building on the edge its parking lot, plunking down $1.7 million to Signet Real Estate Holdings for the property.

The former home of an imaging center, the office spread at 610 West Glades Road takes up more than an acre. The building was last purchased for just over $817,000 in 2003.

The hospital, located at 800 Meadows Road, has no plans for the parcel yet, spokesperson Thomas Chakurda told the South Florida Business Journal.

“We acquired it given its prominent location on Glades and will utilize it in some fashion as we develop our master site plan,” Chakurda told the Journal.

The hospital has been looking to expand recently and sought a rezoning last October for a proposed 15-story development that would include dormitory-style housing. Currently, the site’s proximity to single-family homes restricts building heights to two-and-a-half stories. [South Florida Business Journal]  — Angela Hunt
