As the South Florida economy picks up, PNC Bank is continuing to expand in Broward County. Last year, the Pittsburgh-based bank opened 10 branches — and it’s looking to add four this year.

By the end of 2014, PNC expects to have 81 branches in the tri-county area, thanks to the recent acquisitions of National City and RBC banks.

The bank already boasts the most branches in Palm Beach County, where it operates 54 locations, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

“We want to be in areas that offer good long-term growth,” Mike Walters, PNC’s senior vice president of retail banking for South Florida, said. “Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties fit that perfectly.” [Sun-Sentinel]Christopher Cameron
