Fort Lauderdale has been ranked No. 7 among the top 10 best downtowns in the nation by Tennessee-based Livability.com.
The annual list ranks the best small- to mid-sized cities to visit, work and live in, according to the Sun-Sentinel. This year, Fort Worth, Texas ranked first, with Birmingham, Ala. in the No. 10 spot. This was Fort Lauderdale’s first year on the list and was the only city from Florida to make the grade.
Downtowns that made the list “maintain a high level of energy and give all city residents a reason to come in,” Livability.com said. Adding that “the ratio of jobs to residents in the downtown area is nearly equal,” in Fort Lauderdale. “A sign that people want to live where they work.” [Sun-Sentinel] – Christopher Cameron
