The subsidiary of a Spanish theme park operator signed a deal to acquire the Miami Seaquarium for an undisclosed price.
California-based Palace Entertainment, owned by Parques Reunidos, reached an agreement with owner Wometco Enterprises for the Virginia Key tourist attraction, the Miami Herald reported. The sale of the 38-acre park would close after Miami-Dade commissioners approve it. A commission vote is expected within the next few months.
The Seaquarium leases the site from the county on a deal that runs through 2031.
Palace and Wometco were in talks for more than two years, according to Seaquarium president and general manager Andrew Hertz. [Miami Herald] — Eric Kalis
