A Brooklyn developer acquired the 181-acre site of the former California Golf Club in northern Miami-Dade County for $19.1 million.
The Mazel Group’s acquisition of the six-property site is Miami-Dade’s largest land deal of 2014, according to the Daily Business Review. The company is tied to developer Yehuda Backer. It picks up a site with zoning to allow the construction of 702 homes, up to six residences per acre.
Under a 2013 agreement with the county, a developer must leave 61 percent of the site as open space. Any future development would have to include a community park.
The seller, Venezuelan entrepreneur Liliane Stransky, paid only $800,000 for the site in 2010. [Daily Business Review] — Eric Kalis
