Although Miami, Orlando and Jacksonville have long served as the state’s major logistics hubs, more and more distribution centers are popping up in Palm Beach County.
Kelly Smallridge, head of the Palm Beach’s business development board, told the Palm Beach Post that the county contains 14 warehouses totaling more than 3 million square feet of space. This includes the Aldi’s food distribution center in Royal Palm Beach, as well as the Walgreens DC west of Jupiter.
Smallridge told the Palm Beach Post the warehouses pose opportunities for big capital investment if the county does indeed become a distribution destination. Warehouse jobs, however, aren’t lucrative or guaranteed, as many positions are disappearing to automation. [Palm Beach Post] – Kerry Barger
