Work is set to begin this month on the new $110 million convention center and hotel in West Palm Beach, developer Related Cos. announced.
Construction was originally scheduled to kick off in January, but delays with permits, designs and meetings with contractors and the community held up the project, Gopal Rajegowda, a vice president for Related, told the Sun-Sentinel.
The site of the 403-room hotel is adjacent to the Palm Beach County Convention Center at 650 Okeechobee Boulevard. The new hotel will feature two ballrooms, eight conference rooms, a 225-seat restaurant, a fitness center and a landscaped pool area with cabanas.
City officials estimate that the project will generate more than 1,500 jobs and contribute $1 billion in economic activity over 10 years. [Sun-Sentinel] – Christopher Cameron
