Three killed in Miami Lakes condo fire

A deadly fire broke out at a Miami Lakes condo complex early Wednesday morning.

Three residents were killed in the third-floor unit fire at the Country Lane community. A mother and two children, ages 2 and 12, were the victims of the fire at 17000 Northwest 67th Avenue. Neighbors heard screams but were unable to help before firefighters and police officers arrived at the complex after midnight.

Miami-Dade County’s police spokesperson told CBS4 the fire originated in the unit’s kitchen. The three victims were found in the bedroom. Their deaths were possibly caused by smoke inhalation.

“It’s tragic,” police spokesperson Alvarado Zabaleta said, as cited by the Miami Herald.
