Hallandale Beach commissioners approved a 21-story condo tower at The Village at Gulfstream Park.
Gulfstream parent The Stronach Group has the go-ahead to construct the 182-unit high-rise atop an existing five-story parking garage overlooking the open-air mall component of the casino. The company hopes to finish the condo tower in time for a late 2016 opening. The project was significantly scaled back after initial plans for 1,500 units, a 500-room hotel and 2,500-seat movie theater were approved in 2006.
Stronach senior vice president Dennis Porter said more condo buildings could be developed at the gaming site, according to the Sun-Sentinel. More than 120 potential buyers have already reserved condos, which range in price from $250,000 to nearly $1 million. [Sun-Sentinel] — Eric Kalis
