Broward County renters will have a larger housing pool to pick from pending the completion of new two townhouse developments in Davie.

CC Residential’s Signature on Davie Road will feature two-story townhouse units with rents from $1,400 to $2,000 a month. Leasing is set to begin by the end of this year.

Just north of the Signature development, Greystar has submitted plans for 342 rental townhouses near Reese Road, close to this firm’s Elan33 West apartments. In a letter to Davie officials in April, Senior Director Fabio A. Rodriguez wrote that it would be a “Class A+” development with one-, two- and three-bedroom units.

Industry observers told the Sun-Sentinel that as renting becomes more permanent in South Florida, people are searching for something a little bit more than the average apartment or condo complex.

“This is developers saying, ‘Let’s build different kinds of housing in the rental pool,’ Anthony Trella, a homebuilding consultant in Deerfield Beach, told the Sun-Sentinel. “You ‘gotta go with the market. That’s the bottom line.” [Sun-Sentinel] –Kerry Barger
