Downtown Miami’s skyline is going to include a 1,000-foot observation tower within four years.
Miami voters overwhelmingly approved observation tower SkyRise Miami during Tuesday’s elections. The Jeffrey Berkowitz-led project received more than 70 percent of early and absentee votes, which had the developer declaring victory during a private party at downtown’s Bayside Marketplace. SkyRise will be constructed on land behind Bayside.
“It’s a mandate,” Berkowitz told the Miami Herald. “Up, up and away.”
Berkowitz said utility reconfigurations for the Bayside marina would begin next week. Foundation work should take about nine months to complete. The developer hopes the entire project will be finished during the first half of 2018. [Miami Herald] — Eric Kalis
