Boca Raton’s new Trader Joe’s may not last long, due to an agreement with the city over underground power lines.

Because developer Halvorsen Holdings failed to bury the power lines on Trader Joe’s downtown site, located at 855 South Federal Highway, the city will issue a temporary certificate of occupancy, not a permanent one, according to the Sun-Sentinel.

If the lines are not buried by Feb. 6, the grocery could be shut down.

“I personally feel they violated the development order that was sent out,” Councilwoman Constance Scott said. “I will not be attending the ribbon-cutting on Sept. 26 and I will not be shopping at Trader Joe’s” until the power lines are buried. [Sun-Sentinel] Christopher Cameron
