All Aboard Florida is altering its design plan for its downtown West Palm Beach station, officials said. The changes reduce the number of metal beams on the outside of the building.
All Aboard Florida will remove roughly half of the beams that crisscross throughout the face of the building, according to the Palm Beach Post.
“The result, according to city planning officials, is a lighter looking building with more open window space throughout the structure,” the city said in a news release.
Plans for the station now call for a sleek facility of stacked concrete and glass, located at Datura and Evernia streets to the west of the Florida East Coast Railway tracks. The facility will also feature an elevated lounge running the entire 800-foot length of the train platform and will have seats for 180 people. [Palm Beach Post] – Christopher Cameron
