Hotel developer Alan Mindel, managing member of Long Island-based Samar Hospitality, has dropped $2.54 million on a 39,000-square-foot lot in Delray Beach. And he’s expected to close on another parcel immediately to the south this month.
Samar is planning a mixed-use project on the assemblage, located at 202-232 S.E. Fifth Avenue, that would include a 120-room hotel, 35 condominiums and 6,800 square feet of shops, according to the Sun-Sentinel.
“The reality is Delray is one of the hottest downtowns,” said Jim Knight, Samar’s broker. Knight also represented the seller, Joseph White.
“There’s more activity there than on Las Olas Boulevard [in Fort Lauderdale]. There’s a lot of depth in the market for more hotels.” [Sun-Sentinel] – Christopher Cameron
