Even the Miami Heat’s biggest rivals are buying condos in enemy territory.
Boston Celtics star Rajon Rondo paid $1.2 million for a Paramount Bay unit in a transaction recorded on Friday, according to Miami-Dade County records. The point guard acquired a two-bedroom, 1,600-square-foot condo on the 39th floor on the Edgewater building. He did not obtain financing for the purchase.
Seller Hawk Realty of Oyster Bay, N.Y. made a $400,000 return on its February 2012 investment in the 2020 North Bayshore Drive unit. The company paid $786,825 for the condo in February 2012.
Paramount Bay was completed in 2010.
Rondo, 28, is a four-time All-Star and a member of the 2008 Celtics team that won the National Basketball Association championship. The Celtics had multiple playoff battles with the Heat in recent years, including a seven-game tilt in the 2012 Eastern Conference Finals.
