Miami’s oldest bar, in business for almost 102 years, is closing its doors — but not shutting down its operation.
Tobacco Road will close its doors on Oct. 25 at 626 S. Miami Ave., where construction is changing the neighborhood and often clogs the streets surrounding the bar.
But the bar will open in a new location at 69 S.W. 7th Street, transporting many artifacts such as its 30-foot wooden bar. The new spot is set to open in a year.
Patrick Gleber, who has owned the bar for 32 years, also negotiated to open an outpost of the bar on the Miami-based Norwegian cruise ship the Norwegian Escape, which will debut in November. [South Florida Business Journal]
