The Miami Beach City Commission got its first look at renderings for renovation of the Miami Beach Convention Center at a meeting Wednesday.
The $500 million makeover would add about 70,000 square feet of ballroom and meeting room space. The redone convention center features a ribbed, white wavy façade with a futuristic look.
Fentress Architects, a Denver-based firm, has the $11 million contract to do the design, which includes a park across the street with a memorial to military veterans.
The design phase is on track and on budget, according to the report. [Miami Herald]
